Well Being Digital (WBD101) is a Hong Kong based company that aims to enable affordable & accurate underlying technologies for mHealth/wearable devices. The accuracy of the underlying technology depends on the software algorithm that WBD101 can provide as much as the reference hardware designs and off the shelf sensors, and the Human Body IoT (Internet of Things) vision of big data analytics will depend on highly accurate information that WBD101 software algorithm calculates, otherwise it would be a case of rubbish-in-rubbish-out.

We have successfully implemented our algorithms onto Infra-red sensors, accelerometer and gyroscope, we target to help brand owners add value to their wearables/hearables/sensorhubs. With more than 21 patents filed/granted, we are in development of other software algorithms using other sensors.

ActivHeartsâ„¢ Sensor Module Design

One of the challenges of PPG technology is that the PPG sensors pick up a lot of noise when the user is exercising, as it is very sensitive to motion. WBD101 technology uses multiple source and sensor pairs and advance digital signal processing to remove these motion noise.

The latest generation of ActivHeartsâ„¢ makes use of Bluetooth Smart technology (BLE) that means you can easily have your heart rate information displayed on your smartphone apps. Over the years, we have tested on hundreds of people and improved its accuracy. We have also tested against different aerobic exercise, like running, biking and even elliptical.

This technology is applicable in earbuds and on wrist. From the Heart Rate information, we can further deduce the following information including:
- Calories and energy expenditure
- Maximum Oxygen Uptake (VO2max)
- Basal metabolic rate (BMR)
- Metabolic Equivalent of Task (METs)
- Heart Rate recovery time
- Respiratory Rate
- Assessment Protocols
- Training zones for Fat Burn, Muscle Build and to avoid over-exertion of the heart
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
- R-R interval
